To visit other mountain dwellers of course!
The Queyras, Hautes-Alpes is one of my favourite parts of the Alps and it must certainly be one of the prettiest. It is a place where afternoon strolls take on a whole new meaning…
….where lakes mirror the sky and where you can picnic in blissful tranquility.
It is perfect for those who want to get closer to the sun. Many of the hikes will take you above 3,000 metres – if you’ve got the legs for it…
… and if you haven’t, well, a good shot of culture will probably do you as much good. The old village of St. Véran is a pretty restful place and at 2042 metres, it is the highest village in Europe.
And of course, nothing can beat the local cuisine and the warm welcome of a traditional auberge at the end of the day. Especially when it is run by friends.
Beautiful, especially those shadows in the deep gorge. How many miles did you hike?
What a beautiful place. Looks like you had great weather for your mountain dweller get away.
What a beautiful land you live in. I am partial to mountains myself. I’m hoping you had a wonderful time.
How does it feel to live in a postcard? Can your scenery get any more lovely? I’m trying very hard not to feel envy, but those pics make it so hard. =)
So majestic. I miss the mountains. The lake there is beautiful, did anyone wade or was it too cold?
Les paysages sont magnifiques et vous m’avez donné envie de visiter St Véran un jour. Merci pour les photos.
